OUCH!!

Dyllan had her first really bad fall. She was playing with her cousin and tripped and fell off of our porch onto cement, head first. She started screaming, Dave ran out there and I followed right behind him. I grabbed her out of his arms and my "mommy mode" turned on quickly!!! I was so scared because of how much blood was coming out of her little mouth and nose. My poor little girl was hurting so bad. After cleaning her mouth out we come to realize it was a lot better than we had first thought. Her two top front teeth looked somewhat separated from her gums and the gums were super swollen. Her poor little top lip was huge as can be! We gave her Motrin and let her fall asleep on the couch next to me. Anytime she is sick or hurt she gets babied big time (and she loves that), I just feel so bad for her and want to take her pain away! This morning we went to the dentist and found out really good news. Her teeth were just loose and the dentist said they would tighten up with time. She is now on a soft diet for a week, this should be fun for her!!! Lots of ice cream, pudding, applesauce, yogurt, all of her favorite foods! So now this weekend, what will we be doing??? Putting up lattice around the porch so no one falls off again! Oh the joys of being a parent!

Things us mothers do to stop our children from doing something gross....

So last night Dyllan was chewing on her hair (and this has been an ongoing issue for the last week or so) and here is our conversation :

"Dyllan, if you keep chewing on your hair it is going to go down your throat and in your tummy and out your butt" she says "My butt is going to be hairy?" so I say "Yes, isn't that gross??" and she says "EWWW then it will make a hole in my pants and I don't want my friends to see that!!!"

I can't believe I actually said it but oh well, hopefully it stops her from chewing on her hair!! :)

Princess Dyllan

Oh yes, what a princess she is. Now if you could only see below where we are rubbing her feet.....ok not really, but seriously how much more princess can she be? She definitely didn't get that from me! :)

My girls are growing way too fast!

4 years and 11 months ago a little girl was born and I couldn't wait until she was old enough to eat solid foods, sit up by herself, crawl, walk, eat "big" people food, go to preschool and fast forward to today and now she is going to start Kindergarten next year. I wish I would have not wanted to rush everything!!!! I look back on everything and have to look at pictures because it is hard to remember what she looked like as a baby. How sad is that? Why does everyone rush their babies to grow up? Next big thing that is going to happen with Dyllan besides Kindergarten is going to the "big" girl clothes section because 5T's almost don't fit anymore. It is so sad. Where did my little girl go? We went through her toys and we put all the toys she no longer wants to play with into storage. Now she is getting "big" girl toys like Hannah Montana dolls, Barbies, play makeup, music players, handheld video games. What's next???? A car! I know that is a long way away, but is it really?

Now we look at Rileigh, she was just born in December which seems ion's ago. Now she is 3 months and hasn't rolled over yet. Do I want her to? Yes and no. If she does then that means she is growing up. I know they all grow up but I am in no rush this time! Lesson learned!!! No I will not be feeding her solids early, she is waiting until she is ready (ok, maybe until I am ready!). I hope she is a late walker just like Dyllan. So I can hold her like a baby even longer because next thing you know, she will be 4 years and 11 months getting ready for Kindergarten and I will be wondering where all the time went.

So I tell this to Rileigh and Dyllan softly in their ear....

Please slow down! I don't want you to grow up yet!!!

Ri is sick!

Well it has been a rough week and a half. Ri is sick. She has been coughing so much and I feel so bad for her! She coughs so hard in the morning that she throws up all of her bottle and then some!!! We called the doctor and there isn't anything else we can do for her. We feel so bad for her. I wish I could take it from her and be sick myself. I do have to say she is such a sweetie though. She hasn't cried once when she is coughing or throwing up. She actually smiles!!! Early this morning she was coughing so hard and in between coughs she would smile at me. I loved it. It was like she was telling me she was alright! We are hoping she is close to being over this cold, but it seems like there is no end in sight! Dyllan even shows her concern for her, she gets so close to tears and says "But Mommy, I don't want Rileigh to be sick!! Poor girl!" So everyone please keep Ri in your thoughts and hope she gets better soon!!!

Out of the mouths of babes...

Oh the things they say. Here are a few funny things Dyllan has said over the years.

"That sucks, oops. Daddy says that all the time!"

"Oh I just want to squeeze Rileigh because she is so cute!!!" (In a high squeel)

"Mommy can I say fake?" (me)- "Yes, why not?" "WHAT THE FAKE!!??"

"If I don't brush my teeth all of them will fall out?"

"Goonight Mommy, goodnight Daddy, goodnight Rileigh, goodnight fishies, goodnight kitties, goodnight neighbors." (EVERY night before bed with a blown kiss after each one)

"Mommy, I am not going to marry (boy's name) anymore" (me)-"Why not?" "Because only big people marry"...later on that day... "Daddy, I am going to marry you, you will be my husband".

"Mommy, I want to move to Grammas and Papa's house, you and Daddy and Rileigh can come too! We will just leave some of our stuff here at our house so we can fit."

"Ewww that guy is smoking!!! GROSS!" (At some random guy on the side of the road)

"When is Peter Pan coming to my house Mommy? We have to open my window so he can come in!"

More funny quotes to come as I remember them!

First Trip to the Dentist!

Dyllan had her first trip to the dentist today! The dentist office is so awesome. You walk in and there is a huge indoor playground and an arcade and a little place to color. She was so excited to be there! I got to go back with her and she sat down and got her X-Rays done. She was such a good patient! Then she went and lied down on the dentist chair/bed and opened wide. The dental assistant and the dentist both said they couldn't believe how clean her teeth were and how great of a brusher Dyllan is! The dentist also said she was one of the best patients ever and he wished all patients were like her! I am so proud of my little girl. She is growing up so fast.

Rileigh is a bumbo baby!!

Rileigh loves sitting in her bumbo. She enjoys seeing everything that is around her. Dyllan loves her in it too, she always wants me to take pictures of them while Rileigh is in it!! Here are a couple pictures.

I don't know why I like this quote so much, but I do and wanted to share it.

Trip to California-Part 2

After the funeral and visiting family I took Dyllan and Rileigh to the park. I took tons of pictures of both the girls, Rileigh laying on a blanket on the grass and Dyllan playing on the equipment and loving on her sister. While at the park, Dyllan made a new friend named Suzie. It was so cute, Dyllan took her hand and brought her over to color with her new color box that her Uncle Danny and his girlfriend Marie got her. They sat there and colored and after about 10 minutes Dyllan comes running to me and asks me if she is being a good helper, it was so sweet. They played for another 20 minutes or so until it started getting a little chilly and I decided it was time to go. They hugged and we left.

That night Dave and I packed our bags for Disneyland while Dyllan watched TV at the hotel. It was so awesome knowing she had no clue what was going on or where we were going the next day. After a long two days we knew she deserved it.

Sunday morning we got up early and met Dave's brother Josh and drove to Disneyland. Dyllan kept asking where we were going and we kept telling her we were going to see some friends. She was asking about the "friends" like "Are they big kids, little kids, or big people?" It was the cutest thing. We parked at Disneyland and she kept seeing small things and she would say "That looks like Disneyland!" and we would say "Oh I wish we could go there!" Finally she saw the sign and started screaming and jumping up and down. It was great! She was so surprised!!

We had a great day. Spent lots of money, ate lots of good food, rode tons of fun rides and enjoyed our time as a family. Rileigh was awake most of the day, was kickin it in the stroller and loved looking around at things. Dyllan was super excited to ride the rides she wasn't able to the last time we went to Disneyland. Rileigh rode Pirates of the Carribean and The Haunted Mansion while I wore her. She didn't even budge during the louds noises! Dyllan's favorite ride was Splash Mountain, she loved it so much we got on two times in a row.

We had a very short but long day at Disneyland and will always remember the day we surprised Dyllan.

Trip to California-Part 1

We had a bitter/sweet trip to California. Our main focus was celebrating the life of Dave's grandmother Pat. She passed away about 2 weeks ago and her funeral was set for Friday, February 27th. Our second focus was taking Dyllan to Disneyland as a suprise. Understand why it was bitter/sweet now?

The funeral went better than I thought, Dyllan was not upset by everyone crying and feeling down, she was a little hyper, which could be expected after a 5 hour drive! She mostly wanted to go get a drink, get a snack or just play. Afterwards she got to play with some dogs at Dave's aunt's house and she had a blast. Rileigh did great, she almost had 2 blowouts in her diaper which I swear everyone could have heard her poop in the silence. Other than that, she slept the entire time. Both girls did great!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our California Trip.
